MOOSE JAW, SK – The City of Moose Jaw advises that Neptune Technology Group has returned to Moose Jaw to complete final installations of smart water meters, with the project anticipated to be completed by the end of October.

Letters have been mailed to property owners who have not had their water meters upgraded to the new smart water meters, and they should receive those letters shortly. Letters will advise property owners to contact Neptune Technology Group to set up an appointment for installation if they have not already done so.

This upgrade is not optional. This is a mandatory program in accordance with Bylaw No. 5152, Sewer and Water Utility Bylaw, with the meter and installation provided at no charge to the property owner. The procedure requires 30-90 minutes to complete, during which time the water will be shut off for a brief period. For your convenience, appointments are available Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Property owners who do not book appointments following receipt of their letters will see ‘Final Notice’ door hangers left at these properties. Property owners who do not book an appointment to receive a new smart water meter within 72 hours of receiving the door hanger will see their water service disconnected and will be subject to an applicable reconnection fee.

Benefits of the new water meters include:

• Eliminates the need for Utility customers to submit water meter readings.
• Eliminates the need for Utility employees to enter a property.
• Eliminates the risk of a faulty reading and mistaken billings.
• Eliminates the risk of undetected water leaks.
