Streets & Roads

The Streets and Roads Division maintains over 200 km of roadways and in excess of 210 km of sidewalks in the City. These streets are plowed and salted in the winter, swept and patched in the spring, rehabilitated in the summer, and rated for condition in the fall. Maintaining the roadway network is a year round job.

As well as the maintenance of the roads, the Engineering Department spends on average over $1,000,000 annually on re-paving residential and arterial roadways.

STREET SWEEPING

Street cleaning is done at least once per year for all roadways as an effort to keep our City beautiful for residents and tourists.

The City will post “No Parking” signs in affected areas 72 hours prior to sweeping, with the exception of the downtown business metered area.  We request the cooperation of residents to obey the “No Parking” signs, as it makes the cleaning much more efficient.

Street Sweeping Schedule can be found here.
