Special Use Buildings - Demolition or Removal
What is this Permit?
A Special Use Buildings – Demolition or Removal Permit is required when an applicant intends to demolish or remove a special use building from a property they own or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner. Removal refers to taking the building off its original site with the intent to relocate it. In such cases, the applicant must also apply for a:
- Moving Permit for transportation, and
- Special Use Buildings – New, Alteration, or Addition Permit for placing it on the new property.
The property owner must authorize the demolition or removal, and the application must be submitted by the owner or an authorized representative.
If you plan to demolish and add an addition, you will only have to fill out a Special Use Buildings - New, Alteration, or Addition Permit.
If you plan to demolish and rebuild immediately, you may either:
- Submit a single application under the Special Use Buildings – New, Alteration, or Addition Permit, or
- Submit both permit applications separately.

Note: For a more detailed overview of the demolition process, please review the Demolition Info Sheet, which outlines key considerations for applicants and owners planning to demolish all or part of a building or structure.
