Road Closure Permits
If you need to close a roadway, including a lane of travel, a parking lane, a back lane, a sidewalk, or a boulevard, you must obtain a Permit from the City of Moose Jaw’s Operations Department. Prime Contractors of construction projects, utility work, and property maintenance, as well as private citizens, require permits. Additionally, individuals or community groups holding events on the City's right-of-way are also required to obtain permits.
For an overview of what is required relating to construction closures and work zone safety, see our Road Closures Pamphlet.
Closure Permit Application Forms
- Complete the application. Include any supporting documentation required (as stated on the application), such as your traffic accommodation plan, business license and insurance information.
- Submit the application a minimum of 7 days before the planned construction closure or 30 days before the planned event or parade closure to ContactOperations@moosejaw.ca. Be advised that first-time events requiring major road closures must be submitted a minimum of 90 days before the planned event or parade to allow time for additional approvals.
- The Operations department will process your application. It will be reviewed by Transportation, including Roadways and Transit, as well as Parks & Recreation, to identify any potential conflicts or issues that may arise from the location or scheduling of the closure. Application approval will be provided by each division.
- Once approved, attend City Hall to pay your permit fees, if applicable.
- Once your application has been approved and paid, the Operations department will provide you with a fully executed copy, and your permit will be in place for the date, time and location specified. Your closure will be communicated to stakeholders such as City crews, police, fire, emergency services, businesses and community services.
- You will be required to abide by your traffic accommodation plan while your closure is in place. If you require any changes, such as a change to the date or time that your closure will be in place, you must contact the Operations department to revise your permit. Note that upon inspection, you may be asked to disclose a copy of your permit and traffic accommodation plan on-site.
