Moose Jaw in Motion
How long will it take to walk downtown?
There are lots of easy, safe and fun ways to be active right in your neighborhood or community:
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Take a “walk break” instead of a coffee break.
- Play catch with your kids.
- Take the lousiest parking spot and walk.
So, get “in motion”. You’ve got nothing to lose and a lot to gain:
Better health – Research shows that physical activity can help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, obesity, high-blood pressure, Type II diabetes and related health problems. You’ll also have more energy, sleep better and feel more relaxed.
Safer neighbourhoods – Evidence suggests that walking, cycling and other forms of outdoor physical activity deter crime by increasing the presence of people out and about in the community.
Healthier environment – Active transportation alternatives like walking and cycling contribute to improved air quality, preservation of natural resources and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Join the movement – The movement of physical activity for better health is underway in Saskatchewan. Will you join the movement? Try incorporating physical activity into your daily life, and ask those you care about to join you.
