55+ Fitness

Drop In Programs

The Kinsmen Sportsplex and Yara Centre offer a variety of Drop in Fitness Classes, 55+ Programming and Water Workouts. Check out all the Drop-in programs being offered by viewing the Drop In Fitness Schedule

All drop in programs are included in your Recreation Pass or cost the Senior Facility Drop in the Rate of $6.25.

Yara Centre Programs

Walking/Running Track
Yara Centre’s indoor track is perfect all year long. This climate-controlled area is perfect for all walkers and runners alike. This 4-lane track is 365 meters on the inside lanes and 375 meters on the outside lanes. We welcome any type of mobility devices as well as strollers. Bring your indoor shoes and a water bottle and you are well on your way to the perfect walk or run!

Pole Rentals
Yara Centre now offers walking stick pole rentals. You can try out our walking sticks on our track and see what they are all about. Walking sticks are a great addition to your regular walk routine. They enhance the cardiovascular aspect of your exercise regime.

Seniors Walk

Monday to Friday $25.00 per month

9:00am – 11:00am.

A chance for our 55+ community to enjoy great exercise walking on our indoor, climate controlled track and no surprising bumps in the road! Mobility devices are permitted for track use.

55+ Fun Fitness with Rita
Mondays September 13 to December 6                  Time:  10:00-10:50am

This low impact Fitness class is sure to have you smiling and singing along, while you DANCE, strengthen, and stretch....  Rita Beth brings over 27 years’ experience in leading Group Fitness classes with GREAT music and innovative classes!

55+ 10/20/20 with Gail
Tuesdays September 14 to December 7                  Time:  10:00-10:50am

Come join us for fun and fitness, this class has all the elements of a great workout; 10 minutes cardio, 20 minutes of strength and 20 minutes of stretch.  ***Please note you do not get down on the floor***

55+ Silver Stretch & Balance with Gail
Wednesdays September 15 to December 8           Time:  10:00-10:50am

A class designed to stretch and soothe those achy muscles. Let our instructor take you on a journey of self-discovery: she will target those areas that need the most nurturing.

55+ Senior Stretch Pilates with Lauren
Thursdays September 16 to December 9                                Time:  10:00-10:50am

Min/Max: 5/30                                                                 Instructor: Lauren Dowling

A low impact routine of strengthening and toning with an emphasis on core strength, muscle balance and posture. For students who have taken Pilates or strengthening classes previously.

55+ Stretch with Rita

Take the time to STRETCH!!!

Stretching is SO important ~ however it is SO often neglected! Join in this 50-minute class and STRETCH from head to toe! Bring your Yoga mat, or you can use a YARA stretching Mat.
