55+ Fitness

Drop In Programs

The Kinsmen Sportsplex and Yara Centre offer a variety of Drop in Fitness Classes, 55+ Programming and Water Workouts. Check out all the Drop-in programs being offered by viewing the Drop In Fitness Schedule

All drop in programs are included in your Recreation Pass or cost the Senior Facility Drop in the Rate of $6.25.

Yara Centre Programs

Walking/Running Track
Yara Centre’s indoor track is perfect all year long. This climate-controlled area is perfect for all walkers and runners alike. This 4-lane track is 365 meters on the inside lanes and 375 meters on the outside lanes. We welcome any type of mobility devices as well as strollers. Bring your indoor shoes and a water bottle and you are well on your way to the perfect walk or run!

Pole Rentals
Yara Centre now offers walking stick pole rentals. You can try out our walking sticks on our track and see what they are all about. Walking sticks are a great addition to your regular walk routine. They enhance the cardiovascular aspect of your exercise regime.

Seniors Walk

Monday to Friday $25.00 per month

9:00am – 11:00am.

A chance for our 55+ community to enjoy great exercise walking on our indoor, climate controlled track and no surprising bumps in the road! Mobility devices are permitted for track use.

55 + Fitness Programming (11-week programs) January 18 – April 1
55 + programming is designed with your needs in mind. Each class is suitable for all fitness levels and does not require jumping or up and down off the floor movements. These classes will help with your cardiovascular ability, balance and coordination!
Check out these classes and pick one or all that you might like.

Spin 55+: Mondays & Fridays @ 10:00 – 10:50 am

An indoor cycling class set to music and Instructor lead to provide an excellent workout and improve cardiovascular conditioning. Spin is for everyone as you control the resistance and pedal speed creating just the right intensity for you. Beginners are welcome at all classes!

Silver Sweat: Tuesdays @ 10:00-10:50am & Thursdays @ 10:20 – 11:10am

A group class designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. This class will have you laughing while your heart rate goes up, all done with some great music and tons of enthusiasm.

Silver Sneakers Stretch and Balance: Wednesdays @ 10:00-10:50am & Thursdays @ 9:15-10:05am

A class designed to stretch and soothe those achy muscles. Let our instructor take you on a journey of self-discovery: she will target those areas that need the most nurturing.
