City Government

Moose Jaw is Canada’s Most Notorious City and being Notoriously Friendly is just one of the many community traits that gives us notoriety. That friendliness not only extends to visitors, but to our friends and neighbours.

In 2022 the City of Moose Jaw released “The Notorious Nine – Nine Ways to Be A Notoriously Good Neighbour”, a document that contains a few healthy reminders of the rights and responsibilities of Moose Jaw property owners. We also created a program to recognize those Notoriously Good neighbours. Read below to check out the “Notorious Nine” and to learn how to nominate a Moose Javian you believe should be recognized as a Notoriously Good neighbour.

THE NOTORIOUS NINE

What makes a neighbour “good”? Some would say “a good fence”. We agree that a good fence serves many valuable purposes (privacy, security, aesthetics, wind buffer), but there’s more to being a good neighbour than erecting barriers. In fact, the City of Moose Jaw Bylaw department has identified nine areas where a little education can go a long way to help you be a Good Neighbour. By following the #NotoriousNine, you can help ensure that all of us live in a community that’s #NotoriouslySafe, #NotoriouslyClean and #NotoriouslyFriendly. CLICK HERE to read The Notorious Nine.

NOTORIOUSLY GOOD NEIGHBOUR RECOGNITION PROGRAM

Every day there are Notoriously Friendly, Notoriously Generous and Notoriously Kind-Hearted Moose Javians making a Notoriously Positive difference in our community. The problem? We don’t hear enough about them. You can change that by nominating those people to be recognized as a Notoriously Good Neighbour. Each month the City of Moose Jaw and Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce will honour one of those nominees as a Notoriously Good Neighbour and they’ll receive their very own certificate of achievement, and a gift card to a local business.
