City Councillor –Dawn Luhning
Dawn has lived in Moose Jaw for 44 years. She graduated from Central Collegiate and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
Dawn is an independent financial advisor with Desjardins Financial Security Investments/DLSolutions. She has been in the financial industry since 1994. Dawn very much enjoys helping her clients with their financial futures and guides them in building strong roadmaps for risk and wealth management. She thrives on keeping up to date on the financial markets, business news and politics.
Dawn is also an avid sports fan and runs every day, currently with their dog, Gigi. She started running in 2000 and has done many 5 and 10km runs and a handful of half-marathons. The Moose Jawg Charity Road Race was born from this love of running in 2002 and the event takes place annually on Canada Day. As of 2019, Moose Jawg has raised over $140000 for the Moose Jaw Health Foundation. [if you could link the Jawg website to those words that would be great – moosejawg.com] Dawn continues to be the event’s Race Director.
In 2012, Dawn was honoured to win a Women of Distinction Award through the Regina YWCA in the Community Leadership and Enhancement category for her work over the years on City Council, Moose Jaw Cultural Centre Builders and Board, Prairie Arts Festival, Moose Jawg and various other organizations past and present in the community. She has represented the City over her terms on Council on Municipalities of Saskatchewan (she has been appointed to the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency through this board as well), Moose Jaw Cultural Centre, Economic Development, Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners, Moose Jaw Downtown Business Association, Palliser Regional Library Board, and Moose Jaw Humane Society.
Dawn is honoured to be back at the Council table and is looking forward to the next four years serving Moose Jaw’s citizens and businesses.
