Moose Jaw, SK – The City of Moose Jaw advises that the Yara Centre track and turf spaces will be closed January 9-12, to allow for the Saskatchewan Selects Football “Battle On The Prairies” tournament. Yara Centre fitness centre will remain open regular hours.

“Battle On the Prairies” will feature 16 teams, including the host Selects, plus teams from Mexico, California, Texas and Boston. Approximately 1,000 fans are expected to be in attendance, and the event is open to the public (admission will be charged).

From January through the end of June, City of Moose Jaw recreation facilities will host over 3,200 athletes involved in multi-day tournaments (hockey, football, curling and swimming), plus coaches, families and officials.

In addition, Moose Jaw will host the BKT Tires World Men’s Curling Championship, March 29-April 6 at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

“Our ability to host thousands of athletes is a testament to our City facilities, the City crews who lead the operations and maintenance, and the countless volunteers from our local teams who make Moose Jaw a top sports destination,” said James Murdock, Mayor. “We appreciate the significant, positive impact these tournaments have on our economy.”
