Moose Jaw, SK – The City of Moose Jaw’s Parks and Recreation Department will be conducting its regular weed control program for outdoor sports fields from May 13 to May 31.

This program, occurring in spring and fall annually, aims to mitigate the spread of broad-leaf weeds, and maintain the aesthetics and functionality of these outdoors spaces for public enjoyment. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the spraying will be postponed and rescheduled to a later date.

The following outdoor sports fields are in the program.

  • Bell Park (800 Block Caribou Street E)
  • Optimist Park (500 Iroquois Street W)
  • McCullough Field (4th Avenue NW and MacDonald Street)
  • Parkhill (1000 Block Duffield)
  • Blackwells Park (1400 13th Avenue NW)
  • Adams Diamond (700 Block MacDonald Street E)

Residents and their pets are asked to avoid treated areas for 24 hours following application. Signage will be prominently displayed at each site to inform users of recent treatments. The signs will be removed once the areas are deemed safe for public access. The City ask residents to adhere to posted safety guidelines to ensure the effectiveness of weed control efforts and the wellbeing of all park users.

The program is executed in a safe and controlled manner to prevent over spraying or drifting into surrounding areas.
