Water Main Replacement Update: Sections of Main St. South Open to Traffic

MOOSE JAW – The City of Moose Jaw advises that construction under the 2022 Water Main Replacement Program continues at the following locations:

1st Ave NW – Caribou St. W to Laurier St. : Construction, including paving, is complete on the 800, 900, 1000 and 1100 blocks of 1st Avenue NW.All of 1st Ave NW south of Saskatchewan St. is open to traffic. All underground work on the  1200 and 1300 blocks is complete and surface work is underway. The Saskatchewan St. and Laurier St. intersections are open, while the Macdonald St. intersection is closed.

Athabasca St. E from 2nd Ave NE to 3rd Ave NE – Construction js underway, with the 2nd Ave NE/Hochelaga St. intersection closed to traffic. The 2nd Ave NE/Athabasca St. intersection is closed.

2nd Ave NE Athabasca St. E to Hochelaga St. E – Construction is ongoing. The intersections of 2nd Ave NE and Athabasca St. E and 3rd Ave NE/Athabasca St. E are closed.  

Main St. S – Home St. to Grandview St.: Construction is complete and Main St. South is open to traffic from Home St. to Elsom St. Grandview St. intersection remains temporarily closed. This closure impacts southbound truck routes to Highway 2. Southbound truck traffic is being detoured to 9th Ave SW so that Highway 2 can be accessed from Highway 363. Please note that this includes all delivery and truck traffic, detours are currently in place to help guide traffic back towards 9th Ave SW.  The City reminds area residents that vehicles are not allowed in construction areas. Surface works iroquois to Grandview, underground main st. to 1st Ave SE.

Grandview St. E from Main St. S to 1st Ave SE – Crews working on Main St. South have extended the construction zone to include Grandview St. E from Main St. S to 1st Ave SE. 1st Ave SE remains open, but all southbound traffic wishing to access Highway 2 south will need to use 9th Avenue SW. Northbound traffic is asked to exercise caution as some construction is occurring adjacent to 1st Ave SE. Detours will be in place and detour signage will be posted along Manitoba St./Manitoba Expressway to alert heavy truck traffic to the detours.

Effective June 15, water main replacement construction was completed on Saskatchewan St. E from Main St. to 3rd NE. 475m of pvc water line was installed, and 420m of road was rebuilt and paved.

Effective August 6, water main replacement on Grandview St. from 6th Ave SW – 10th Ave SW was completed. 1010m of new pvc pipe was installed and 985m of road was remediated.
