ViPER Safety Patrol Commences Operations
June 24, 2026
Moose Jaw Police Service’s newest team, the Visible Proactive Engagement Response (ViPER) Safety Patrol, has completed its training and will officially begin patrolling the streets of Moose Jaw this week.
Inspired by impactful initiatives in Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Queensland, Australia, and built from the blueprint of Chief Davis’s successful safety patrol programs in previous postings, the ViPER Safety Patrol offers young people interested in careers in law enforcement the opportunity to serve in a visible role while bolstering public safety in Moose Jaw.
This year’s ViPER team is comprised of four local Moose Jaw residents aspiring to careers in law enforcement: Wayne Bauluck, Aiden MacDonald, Haily Molde, and Kayden Lang.
“Between Crescent Park, the Public Library, and our many unique businesses and attractions, Moose Jaw has a vibrant downtown core, and the Moose Jaw Police Service is committed to keeping it safe,” said Chief of Police Rob Davis. “After working closely with these units over the past two weeks of training, I have the utmost confidence in their work ethic, dedication, and commitment to this city, and I look forward to the positive impact they will have in the community this summer.”
The ViPER Safety Patrol will serve as ambassadors for downtown Moose Jaw, reflecting strong partnership with local organizations, including Tourism Moose Jaw and the Downtown Moose Jaw Association. These units will also act as a visible extension of the Moose Jaw Police Service in key areas of the city, providing auxiliary services that promote public safety, such as Safe Walk programs, while also maintaining a vigilant presence to deter crime and support police operations. MJPS encourages residents to engage with these units while on patrol and to follow their work throughout the summer on social media.
The Moose Jaw Police Service’s mission is to serve as a community-focused safety agency, committed to peacekeeping, crime prevention, law enforcement, and community building.
The ViPER Safety Patrol was developed with this mission in mind and aligns closely with the three-year outcomes outlined in the Moose Jaw Police Service’s Strategic Map, including increased presence in high-risk areas, stronger connections with youth, expanded engagement at community events and in public spaces, and enhanced visibility throughout Moose Jaw.
