MOOSE JAW, SK – The City of Moose Jaw is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Tree of Significance.

Canada’s official National Tree Day is observed on the Wednesday of National Forest Week, which takes place during the last full week of September. To commemorate this event, the City has held this annual program since 2011 to recognize trees of significance to Moose Jaw residents. Photographs of the winning trees from previous years can be viewed on the City of Moose Jaw website.

Is there a tree in Moose Jaw that you believe deserves recognition? If so, nominate it as Moose Jaw’s Tree of Significance by September 18, 2026. The winning tree or trees will be announced on National Tree Day, September 23, 2026.

Tell us why your nominated tree is special:

• Is it remarkable for its size and shape?
• Does it hold historical significance?
• Is it a rare species in this region?
• Is it unusual or interesting in some other way?

Nominated trees should be accessible to the public, such as those in public or institutional spaces (e.g., parks and schools) or in the front or side yards of residential homes. Nomination forms can be downloaded from the City of Moose Jaw website or picked up at the Community Recreation and Parks Services office at City Hall. Submissions can be made in person or via email at recreation@moosejaw.ca.
