MOOSE JAW, SK – The City of Moose Jaw is pleased to host a public Open House regarding the City’s proposed Solid Waste Management (SWM) facility.
Thursday, February 22, 2024, the City will host two sessions at the Moose Jaw Events Centre (Mezzanine Level). Anyone interested can attend at the following:
- 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
To continue to serve the City and surrounding Rural Municipalities, planning is underway to develop a new SWM facility to replace the City’s current Sanitary Landfill. The proposed location is approximately two kilometres directly north of Moose Jaw on two quarter sections of land in the R.M. of Moose Jaw No. 161.
The “come and go” Open House sessions offer you a chance to view the key components of the proposed facility and get answers to your questions from the City of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Environment, and consultants from GHD and Associated Engineering.
You’ll also be able to provide feedback in advance of the R.M of Moose Jaw considering the City’s Discretionary Use application for the proposed site.
Components of the new SWM facility will include:
- Public drop off area for household waste and recycling.
- Wood waste management.
- Environmental compliance features such as a leachate, storm water and landfill gas management.
Open House invitation letters will be sent to properties in the R.M. in the vicinity of the proposed facility. For full details on the proposed facility, including answers to Frequently Asked Questions, visit www.moosejaw.ca/swmp.
