Property Tax Deadline is August 31, 2023

MOOSE JAW – The City of Moose Jaw reminds residents the deadline to pay 2023 property taxes is Friday, August 31, 2023.

At the regular meeting of City Council held Tuesday, May 23rd, Council adopted the 2023 Property Tax Bylaw, finalizing the mill rate increase that was initially approved during 2023 Budget deliberations in December.

Council approved a 4.62% property tax increase for 2023, with 3.60% dedicated to City programs and services, and 1.02% allocated to the Moose Jaw Police Service for their Budget.

Council also approved a 4% increase to water rates and a 3% increase to sewer rates (combined avg. $4.58/month) and a $65 Parks & Recreation infrastructure levy to fund Parks & Recreation Capital programs including a new outdoor pool.

With the property tax increase the average single-family residential home will pay $1,670 in municipal property taxes plus the Water and Parks & recreation Infrastructure levies, an increase of:

$6.15/mth; $73.80/yr. Overall

$1.36/mth.; $16.32/yr. Moose Jaw Police Service

$4.79/mth.; $57.48/yr. City Services

Property owners will soon receive their 2023 tax notices in the mail. Paying by August 31 means you will avoid a late payment surcharge and there are multiple payment options: – Payments through the Tax Installment Payment Plan Service (TIPPS). – Payments made in person, online or by telephone banking via your financial institution. – Use the drop box in front of City Hall that is available 24 hours a day (cheques only). – Mail the payment to City Hall: 228 Main St. North, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 3J8 (no late payment charges if postmarked by June 30, 2023). – Online with your credit card (through a third-party service provider).
