Moose Jaw Dog Park Closure Update
June 29, 2026
MOOSE JAW, SK – The City of Moose Jaw advises that the dog parks (located at 1500 High Street W) remain closed, following their initial closure on the afternoon of Friday, June 26, 2026.
The City closed both dog parks as a precaution following reports of illness among several dogs that had recently visited the small dog park, including one fatality. Gates have been secured and signage posted to inform the public of the closure.
At this time, a cause of the illnesses has not been determined. The City is actively gathering information through water testing and is working with the veterinarian to better understand what may have contributed to these incidents. Updates will be provided as they become available.
Residents who have recently visited the parks with their dogs are encouraged to monitor them closely. The veterinarian has advised that reported symptoms may include drowsiness or loss of consciousness, wobbling, or falling. If any concerning symptoms are observed, pet owners are advised to contact a veterinarian.
A reopening date for the parks has not been determined at this time.
The City thanks residents for their understanding as we work to ensure the safety and well-being of our pets and public spaces and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
