Mayor Tolmie Proclaims May 17 Norway Day
May 17, 2021
Moose Jaw, SK – Continuing a tradition dating back to 2019, Mayor Fraser Tolmie proclaimed May 17 as Norway Day in honour of the Scandinavian country’s Constitution Day. Norway Day is proclaimed in Moose Jaw as a result of a “Moosarandum of Understanding” (MOA) between Moose Jaw and Stor-Elvdal, Norway that was struck after an international “moose war” in 2019 over who had the biggest moose. The MOA acknowledges Mac The Moose as the world’s tallest moose statue, and Storelgen (in Stor-Elvdal) as the world’s shiniest and most attractive moose.
