Moose Jaw, SK – Moose Jaw Mayor James Murdock is among seven Saskatchewan mayors traveling to Ottawa this week as part of a provincial delegation advocating for renewed federal investment in municipal infrastructure.

Led by Saskatchewan Minister of Government Relations Eric Schmalz and Minister of Advanced Education Ken Cheveldayoff, the delegation includes representatives from the cities of Moose
Jaw, Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Swift Current, North Battleford, and Yorkton, along with leaders from the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) and the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA).

The mission, taking place October 1 & 2, aims to secure a renewed cost-shared infrastructure program with the federal government. The previous program, the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), is fully subscribed.

Mayor Murdock emphasized the importance of Moose Jaw’s voice being heard in Ottawa:

“Moose Jaw has critical infrastructure priorities, including a shovel ready project, Crescent View Lift
Station, that are essential to our city’s growth and quality of life,” said Mayor Murdock. “It’s important that Moose Jaw is part of this delegation, using a collective voice to champion new or extended federal funding opportunities that benefit all Saskatchewan municipalities.”

“Advocating for strategic partnerships to secure infrastructure funding” is one of the goals outlined in the City of Moose Jaw’s recently adopted Strategic Plan, and the City of Moose Jaw continues to prioritize infrastructure renewal and development to support economic growth, safety, and livability for residents.
