Moose Jaw, SK – The City of Moose Jaw advises residents and visitors that the intersection of Main Street and Thatcher Drive is scheduled to be repaved August 20 – August 24, 2023.

Now beginning on August 20, the work will be completed in one phase with extensive traffic accommodation and detouring. Traffic will be re-routed along the west service road and around Diefenbaker Drive. Traffic will continue to have access to the Northeast Service Road and businesses on the south side of Thatcher Drive, but barricades will be in place blocking the entrances to the Thatcher Drive and Main Street intersection.

The entire project will take approximately five days to complete, weather permitting. All businesses in the area will remain open while the project is being completed.

This project is the continuation and completion of the Ministry of Highways work on Main Street that occurred in 2022. The repaving of the intersection is funded by the Ministry of Highways.

The City asks all drivers to obey posted signage and slow down in work zones for the safety of everyone. Alternate transit routes will be in place, and three locations will be impacted for the duration of this project:

  • Stop ID 1049 East Service Road/ Thatcher Drive – will be closed
  • Stop ID 1047 will remain open, but Transit will travel down Highland Road first
  • Stop ID 2019 West Service Road/Thatcher Drive will temporarily be moved 40 metres west from construction
