Moose Jaw – Thursday afternoon, Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie addressed the community during a media briefing. Here is his statement:
“We want to take some time to update the residents of Moose Jaw on recent events within our community and the precautions being taken for our community’s safety.
The measures we are taking now are being implemented to overcome this issue as quickly as possible and we are adhering to Public Health’s recommendations.
The measures we are taking right now are being taken to protect the most vulnerable in our community.
We are taking a common-sense approach to this and we are asking our residents to do the same.
We are going to get through this, we are going to prevail!
We are recommending that all citizens get their information from the Sask Health website. It is important to get your facts concerning your health directly from the experts.
We are providing links to the Sask Health website and keeping the residents informed through www.Moosejaw.ca and our City of Moose Jaw app which can be downloaded on your Apple or Android device.
The residents of Moose Jaw are rallying. We are receiving emails and calls with positive messages of encouragement. People are looking for ways to help one another in these times.
They are asking for advice. Our advice is to wash your hands regularly and adhere to the social distancing recommendations from Sask Health.
Find ways to help one another. Buy only what you need because limiting your purchases helps others who are in need.
I’d like to let you know that I have been out in our community, and the people I meet have a positive outlook and know that we will get through this.
Their positive outlook has in turn given me strength! I am proud of you, our community, because in these circumstances, your true character is shining through.
The City’s Emergency Measures Organization is meeting daily to ensure that essential City services are being provided.
I am proud of our team, because their professionalism is shining through.
Thank you and God Bless You.”
