Moose Jaw, SK – The City of Moose Jaw is pleased to announce that construction of new pickleball courts is underway.

Ground was broken on the new project Tuesday, May 24, 2022, with construction of the new $285,000 facility anticipated to be complete by July 31, 2022. The project was approved by City Council as part of the 2022 Budget.

“Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in North America and the construction of new outdoor courts in 2022 will be a welcome addition to the City’s outdoor recreation infrastructure,” said Mayor Clive Tolley.

The City has signed a License Agreement with Pickleball Moose Jaw which establishes annual exclusive use times and rates for the club while ensuring that time is allotted for City programming and drop-in use by the general public.  The agreement also includes provisions in which Pickleball Moose Jaw will be contributing to future facility improvements and expansion.

“Pickleball Moose Jaw is excited to see that court construction is underway,” said Lori Haukaas, President. “The user agreement we’ve signed with the City will enable us to develop programs for our members while supporting ongoing court maintenance and future development. The local pickleball community is excited to have a dedicated space for outdoor play, and we look forward to partnering with the City of Moose Jaw in a continued effort to grow pickleball here at home.”

The new pickleball courts are being constructed on the south lawn of the Kinsmen Sportsplex property, bordering 9th Avenue SW and Elizabeth St.

Mayor Clive Tolley and Pickleball Moose Jaw President Lori Haukaas (5th/6th from left) are joined by other members of Pickleball Moose Jaw and the City’s Parks and Rec team to launch construction.
