MOOSE JAW – The City of Moose Jaw reminds residents to obey posted signage and speed limits in work zones.

This past weekend, a City employee was hit by a vehicle that ignored a ‘Road Closed’ barricade and entered the work site. Though the employee avoided injury, the incident highlights the need to exercise caution in all work zones.

The City reminds all drivers:

  • Even if one lane appears to be open, when there are “Road Closed” signs/barricades erected, the entire portion of that road is closed.
  • When a lane of traffic is open in a work area, the speed limit is 30km/hr.
  • The fines for speeding in a construction zone, as identified in the City’s Traffic Bylaw are as follows: $240 plus $6 for each km/hr in excess of the speed limit for speeds up to 30km/hr above the speed limit and $12 for each km/hr in excess of the speed limit for speeds greater than 30km/hr above the speed limit.

The City of Moose Jaw thanks you for your attention to safety.
