MOOSE JAW, SK – Moose Jaw City Council has ratified a new Collective Agreement between the City and Transit Employees – Unifor Local 101R.

A tentative agreement between the two parties was reached January 29, 2026, UNIFOR members voted in favour February 3, 2026, and City Council also ratified the new deal on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The previous agreement had expired December 31, 2025.

In addition to employee retirement enhancements, the new agreement calls for the following increases to UNIFOR Unit Local 101R members:

• 3% on January 1, 2026
• 3% on January 1, 2027
• 5% on January 1, 2028

“Our Transit Operators provide a key service to the citizens of Moose Jaw, so we are pleased to be able to get this deal signed.,” said TJ Karwandy, Director of Human Resource Services. “How quickly we were able to come to this agreement is a reflection of both sides working collaboratively throughout the process.”

“This agreement reflects the hard work of both sides to reach a fair and balanced outcome,” said Unifor Local 101R – Lodge 204 Chair, Jim Wiens. “It provides stability for transit workers and ensures reliable service for the Moose Jaw community moving forward. We’re pleased to have reached a deal that respects our members and supports the future of public transit.”

UNIFOR Local 101R represents 16 City of Moose Jaw Transit employees in the Operations Department.
