MOOSE JAW – The City of Moose Jaw reminds residents that there will be no waste or recycling collection on Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1).

All zones will receive collection services during those weeks, but your collection day may be affected. Recycling collection for affected residents will occur on December 26, 2020 and January 2, 2021, respectively. Please refer to the collection schedule*, which can be found with this link on the City’s website.

*The City advises that Zone 9 will receive manual waste collection on Monday, January 4, 2021 (this is not indicated on the collection schedule).

Additionally, the City reminds residents about what can and can not be recycled:

CAN:

– Cardboard boxes.

– Plastics (Numbers 2-7).

– Unbroken glass.

– Aluminum and tin cans.

– Juice and milk cartons.

CAN NOT:

– Wrapping paper.

– Plastics labeled #1, plastic clamshell containers, plastic wrap and single-use plastic shopping bags.

– Tape.

– Plastic packaging WITHOUT the Recycling symbol.

– Ribbons.

– Bows.

It’s important that all material going into the recycling bin be clean and free of tape, food stains, food residue, etc.

The City also reminds residents that old electronics, among other items, can be taken to SARCAN. And, if you have an excess of acceptable cardboard, paper and plastics, you can dispose of the items at the City recycle bins on High Street West between the City Complex and Yara Centre.
