City Council Ratifies Collective Agreement With UNIFOR Transit Employees

MOOSE JAW – Moose Jaw City Council has ratified a new Collective Agreement between the City and Transit Employees – UNIFOR Local 101R.

A tentative agreement between the two parties was reached December 23, 2020, UNIFOR members voted in favour January 12, 2021 and City Council ratified the new deal at their regular meeting Monday, January 25, 2021. The previous agreement had expired December 31, 2018.

In addition to employee benefits enhancements, the new agreement calls for the following increases to UNIFOR Unit Local 101R members:

  • 1.25% on January 1, 2019; 1.5% on January 1, 2020; 1.5% on January 1, 2021 and 1.75% on January 1, 2022.

“The City is pleased to come to this agreement,” said Jim Puffalt. City Manager. “We value the work of our UNIFOR members every day, and they have continued to provide excellent service throughout the challenges presented by COVID-19. We also thank them for a productive, respectful bargaining process.”

“We are pleased, during these difficult times, to get a deal and continue to service the City of Moose Jaw,” said Kevin Bittman, UNIFOR National Representative.

UNIFOR Local 101R represents 18 City of Moose Jaw Transit employees in the Public Works & Utilities department.
