Moose Jaw, SK – The City of Moose Jaw advises that construction under the 2023 Water Main Replacement Program is nearing completion for the year. The recent arrival of winter weather will impact our contractor’s ability to complete all planned work at the following locations:

Fairford St W. – Fifth Ave NW to Eighth Ave NW

All underground work (new pipe and service connections) is complete, but paving from Fifth Avenue NW to Seventh Avenue NW will be completed in spring of 2024. A temporary surface of road base will be applied and maintained by the contractor through the 2023-24 winter season. There is also some outstanding concrete work at this location, and it will also be completed in 2024.

Crews will provide the temporary road surface and re-open the road to traffic when conditions allow. Current Fairford St. Closures in effect:

  • Eighth Ave NW intersection – open
  • Seventh Ave NW intersection –
  • Fifth Ave NW intersection – open.

16th Avenue NW from Caribou Street to Stadacona Street.

Underground work (new pipe and service connections) is ongoing and will be wrapped up in the coming weeks, weather permitting. Once underground work is finished the road will have a temporary driving surface of reclaimed asphalt and will be maintained by the contractor for the 2023-24 winter season, with paving in spring of 2024. All concrete work, catch basin installation and sanitary dig repairs will occur in 2024. The intersection of 16th Avenue NW/Caribou St. will be paved the week of October 30, weather permitting. Once that intersection is paved, crews will close the 16th Avenue NW/Stadacona St. intersection for underground pipe replacement.
