MOOSE JAW, SK – The City of Moose Jaw advises that the 4th Avenue SW Bridge (Thunderbird Viaduct) is scheduled to be closed September 29 – October 4, 2026, while annual maintenance takes place.

This closure is required while crews complete bridge washing, as part of the City’s Structure Management Program. Bridge washing is an important preventative maintenance activity that helps extend the service life of City structures by removing accumulated dirt, de-icing chemicals, and other contaminants that contribute to steel corrosion and concrete deterioration.

Crews will be setting up traffic accommodation and mobilizing on the site beginning Monday, September 28, with the bridge anticipated to be closed from September 29 through October 4, 2026. They will make every effort to minimize noise and disturbance while completing the work safely and efficiently.

The public is advised to detour to the bridge at 9th Avenue SW while work is underway.

Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists are asked to follow all temporary signage and remain outside of barricaded work areas for the safety of workers and the public. No more #NotoriouslyClose calls.

Any updates for this work will be posted to the City’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, X), and will be shared to City News on the City’s website on MooseJaw.ca and on the free City of Moose Jaw app.
