2023 Water Main Replacement Update – October 6
Moose Jaw, SK – The City of Moose Jaw advises that the 2023 Water Main Replacement Program is ongoing with construction underway at two locations.
Street closures went into effect on Thursday, October 5, 2023, on 16th Avenue NW from Caribou Street to Stadacona Street for water main replacement. This project was added to the list of 2023 Water Main Replacement projects after City Council approved a change order during the regular meeting of City Council on August 14, 2023. Weather permitting, the work is expected to take six to eight weeks.
- 16th Avenue NW – Caribou St. to Stadacona St.
- Caribou St. intersection – closed
- Hochelaga St. intersection – closed
- Athabasca St. intersection – closed
- Stadacona St. intersection – remains open
Also, work is ongoing on Fairford St. West, with water main replacement occurring between 5th Avenue and 8th Avenue. Contractors are continuing with the 500 and 600 blocks of Fairford St. W, with the 500-800 blocks closed to traffic.
The City of Moose Jaw reminds residents that all area businesses remain open during construction and access will be available where possible. Due to the nature of construction and minimal secondary access options, some locations may be temporarily inaccessible during construction. The City of Moose Jaw apologizes for any inconvenience. The current Fairford St. Closures in effect:
- Fairford St W – Eighth Ave NW to Fifth Ave NW
- Eighth Ave NW intersection – open
- Seventh Ave NW intersection – closed
- Six Ave NW intersection – closed
The City will continue to issue weekly updates as the program progresses and drivers are reminded to obey all temporary traffic signage and exercise caution in construction zones to keep everyone safe.
