MOOSE JAW – September 20, 2023, is Canada’s official National Tree Day, and the City of Moose Jaw is proud to announce this year’s Tree of Significance.

The City of Moose Jaw’s Tree of Significance program has been held annually in conjunction with National Tree Day and National Forest Week since it’s inception in 2011. “This program encourages residents to take notice of and appreciate the beauty of our Urban Forest,” explained Sarah Regent, City Horticulturist.

The City of Moose Jaw 2023 Tree of Significance is a mature little leaf linden tree at 1316 Princess Crescent. This tree was nominated due to its fragrant late-spring blossoms and large, even form. It’s an excellent specimen tree.

All Trees of Significance since the program’s inception in 2011 may be seen with this link on the City’s website. The Parks & Recreation Department encourages Moose Jaw residents to take notice of, and appreciate, our urban forest.
