Commercial Alteration

What is this Permit?

A Commercial – Alteration Permit is required when an applicant intends to modify all or part of an existing commercial, industrial, or institutional building or structure located on a property they own or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner, but without changing gross floor area or building height. Examples of alterations include removing interior walls, replacing windows, or reconfiguring interior layouts—as long as the work does not expand the building’s footprint or volume. The property owner must authorize the alteration, and the application must be submitted by the owner or an authorized representative.

What is not a use for this permit?
