The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA)

On January 31, 2006 the City of Moose Jaw announced to local property owners that it would be outsourcing the City’s property assessment function to the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) and the contract with SAMA was ratified by City Council on April 17, 2006. At the August 12, 2025, regular meeting of City Council, a new, five-year agreement with SAMA was ratified that will see SAMA continue providing assessment services for the City of Moose Jaw through 2030.

SAMA provides property assessment expertise to over 700 municipalities in Saskatchewan. Under its contract with the City of Moose Jaw, SAMA staff will occupy office space on the 4th floor in City Hall and provide the City with the same assessment services as it does for all client municipalities. If you have questions or concerns about your property’s assessment, please contact the Assessment Department at (306)694-4482 or by email at tax@moosejaw.ca.

Most assessment-related inquiries can be resolved prior to filing a formal appeal with required fees.

Appeals

If you choose to file a formal appeal with the Moose Jaw Board of Revision, information on the appeal process is located on the back of your Assessment Notice. Applications for Appeal with the required payment can be mailed or placed in the drop box at City Hall.

Appeal Fee Schedule

Assessment appeals to the Moose Jaw Board of Revision must be accompanied by the appropriate appeal fee*:

Residential Property (up to three units): $30/property
Condominium (Residential):$30/unit Other – see fee schedule below:

*If there is an error on the notice for ownership, property address, and/or legal land description, a copy of the current Certificate of Title must accompany the “Notice of Appeal” form. NO FEE IS REQUIRED.

*If there has been any change to school support, signature of all registered owners listed on the “Notice of Assessment” must appear on the “Notice of Appeal” form. NO FEE IS REQUIRED
