• You can visit the City's Sanitary Landfill Scalehouse at 692-9383.
• If information or assistance is required on proper packaging and disposal of special wastes (i.e. asbestos, hydrocarbon products, chemicals, hazardous and infectious materials, etc.), call the City Operations Department at 694-4448.
• To dispose of Asbestos at the City landfill, please complete the Asbestos Disposal Application here and submit it to ContactOperations@moosejaw.ca for review.

• All vehicles MUST STOP and report to the weigh scale house attendant before entering and leaving the disposal area. Proof of residency is required.
  
  
• Follow the directions to the proper dumping area at the landfill site.
  
  
• For reasons of safety, please keep children in vehicles while on the Sanitary Landfill Site.
  
  
• Prevent fire - thank you for NOT smoking at the Sanitary Landfill Site.
  
  
• City Bylaw #5156, Section 23, requires that all loads must be tarped and secured. The City of Moose Jaw enforces Bylaw #5156, which states that all vehicles transporting wastes or debris must be covered or securely fastened to prevent any material from escaping the vehicle. The City of Moose Jaw Police Service, as well as the Landfill Personnel, can issue violations for vehicles found to be travelling with unsecured loads. Help keep our community safe and clean by making sure that your load is secured!
  
  
• Landfill accounts require the completion of the Sanitary Landfill Application.  All credit applications must be approved prior to use.
  
  
• Dumping of solid wastes anywhere else in or around the City is illegal, with fines up to $100.00 for individuals and $5,000.00 for corporations.

The City of Moose Jaw will be implementing new procedures at the Sanitary Landfill, located at 1802 Caribou Street East, to improve efficiency and enhance diversion of recyclable materials beginning Monday, December 15, 2025.

These changes are designed to streamline operations and support the City’s commitment to waste diversion and environmental responsibility. Key changes include:

• New Public Drop-Off Depot: After checking in at the weigh scale office, customers will deposit materials into the appropriate bins.
  
  
• Divertible Materials: Items such as clean recyclables, scrap metal, propane tanks, automotive batteries, used oil, and oil containers must be placed in designated diversion areas.
  
  
• Standard Waste: Garbage from half-ton trucks or smaller vehicles must be deposited in the new public drop-off bins located just past the scale.
  
  
• Safety at Drop-Off: Customers should wait until the area is clear before approaching bins and ensure all waste is placed inside the bin. When finished, exit to the west of the area.

As always, all customers must report to the weigh scale office for payment and directions. Commercial Customers (large trucks, trailers, or oversized loads) will continue to deposit waste at the working face, following signage and directions from the scale attendant.
