SaskPower Duct Bank Work Moving to 1st Avenue NW on August 24

MOOSE JAW, SK – The City of Moose Jaw advises that SaskPower duct bank work downtown is expected to move to 1st Avenue NW beginning August 24, 2026.
The 0 block of Fairford Street W has reopened and work underway in the centre of the parking lot west of City Hall is anticipated to continue through August 25, 2026.
As of Monday, August 24, 2026, this work is expected to shift to 1st Avenue NW between High Street W and Fairford Street W. Until September 4, 2026, this road will be closed to southbound traffic, with the west sidewalk also closed to pedestrians while work is underway. One lane will remain open to northbound traffic.
Transit users of Route #3 – Athabasca East are advised that the stop at 1st Avenue NW & Fairford Street W will be closed for the duration of the work on 1st Ave NW. Signage will be posted, directing them to the nearest available stop.
Beginning on September 5, 2026, duct bank work is anticipated to return to the City Hall parking lot, with back-alley access blocked for through traffic. Alley access is expected to be closed through September 11, 2026, with the parking lot to remain accessible from 1st Avenue NW and Fairford Street W.
The laydown area presently in the northwest corner of the parking lot is anticipated to remain until Mid-October.
In addition, SaskPower will be undertaking daylighting activities on September 1 and 2, 2026, in preparation for duct bank work planned for 2027. Crews will be undertaking this work on 1st Avenue NW between High Street W and River Street W. There will be a lane restriction on the east side of the road, but traffic flow will be maintained both northbound and southbound, and the sidewalks will remain open.
All area businesses remain open during duct bank work and access will be provided.
The City will continue to provide updates on traffic restrictions as the project progresses. The City reminds the public to remain outside of barricades and follow all temporary signage for the safety of everyone. No more #NotoriouslyClose calls.
