MOOSE JAW, SK – The City of Moose Jaw is requesting all residents participate in a voluntary water conservation effective immediately.

The City of Moose Jaw has been advised by the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant (BPWTP) of a “short term reduction in the supply of water to its customers… due to an issue with the plant” and the issue is expected to be resolved by the end of the weekend.

In response, the City asks residents to practice limited water usage across the city because of continued reduction in the production of treated water. Providing residents with clean, safe drinking water remains the top priority during this disruption to service.

Residents are asked to conserve water by:

• Turning off taps as much as possible during personal grooming activities.
• Showering instead of bathing, if possible
• Running the washing machine and dishwasher only when full.
• Refrain from watering grass/landscaping as much as possible.
• Eliminating the filling of hot tubs, pools, and ponds.
• Delaying washing vehicles until the conservation request has been lifted.

The City will also refrain from filling the Phylis Dewar Outdoor pool and all paddling pools, turn off spray parks, stop washing City equipment and vehicles other than what is required for health and safety, as well as stop operations that require water usage such at street cleaning.
