Moose Jaw, SK – The City of Moose Jaw is proud to announce the creation of an Indigenous logo and our first ever Indigenous Relations web page.

The logo incorporates elements of the City’s “Notorious” logo that was launched in 2020, while paying tribute to Moose Jaw’s Indigenous origins. The new logo will be used for City-related Indigenous celebrations, ceremonies and correspondence.

The Indigenous Relations web page was created to provide Indigenous and non-Indigenous members of the community a directory of local and regional resources, important dates, and contacts.

“These initiatives are the latest steps in the City’s path to Reconciliation,” said Maryse Carmichael, City Manager. “We hope these actions will further strengthen relationships with Indigenous community members and neighbours and provide all Moose Javians with insight into Moose Jaw’s Indigenous cultures, which continues to grow.”

The Indigenous Relations page includes the City’s official Land Acknowledgement, which was approved by City Council in 2023. It also shares an explanation of the City’s Indigenous Liaison role and contact information.

“One of our main goals has been to reestablish relationships between the City of Moose Jaw and Métis & First Nations,” explained Hayley Hart-Rushinko, Acting Manager, Communications and Stakeholder Relations. “We’ve listened to our Indigenous stakeholders and will continue to seek mutually beneficial engagement and partnership opportunities. The City has a leadership role to play in Reconciliation and we will work towards answering the Calls to Action and creating a more inclusive community.”
