Moose Jaw, SK – Building permit values in 2023 were the fifth highest in the City of Moose Jaw’s history.

From January 1 through December 31 last year, 158 permits were issued totaling $82,104,595.00. 2023’s positive numbers come on the heels of an even more successful 2022, when 221 permits were issued for a total value of $106,812,358.00, which is the second highest year for building permit values in Moose Jaw (records date back to 1906).

The ten biggest years for building permit values are as follows (key projects in brackets for the top five):

1 – 2014: $131,510,249.00 (Dr. F.H. Wigmore Hospital $49M, hotel $8.4M, grain elevators $9M, nursing home $9M)

2 – 2022: $106,812,358.00 (Great Plains Power Station $51.7M, Canadian Tire $7.7M, Sask Polytech Renovations $2M, West Park Apartment $12M) 

3 – 2009: $97,090,308.00 (Mosaic Place $36.5M, Yara Centre $15M)

4 – 2013: $96,126,945.00 (Wigmore Hospital structure and foundation $18M, hotel $4.5M, apartments $16M)

5 – 2023: $82,104,595.00 (Westheath School $44.2M, recreation establishment $4M, Casino MJ renovations $4.5M and Sarcan $4.2M) 

6 – 2012: $68,048,306.00 

7 – 2021: $66,751,397.00 

8 – 2008: $54,344,292.00 

9 – 2011: $54,055,962.00 

10 – 2010: $47,434,759.00
